Brightly – Preflight Nerves

A couple of months ago, I was browsing through reddit as I normally do on an afternoon (and morning and night) when I came across the ingenious idea conceived by the band Brightly and in particular, their singer Charlie Gleason. As a web designer with little-to-no budget to create a video for their single Preflight Nerves, he built a web app that searches for twitter updates from all over the world to create the lyrics of the song which was then displayed along with a gathering of public domain videos.

The video (or interactive video/app) has earned them over 148’000 views on their website and a further 150’000 on the static YouTube version of the video. It’s even been awarded with an FWA award! Check out the original interactive clip here, or check out the static YouTube version below. The band are due to release their album Beginning & Endings on May 9th, so do check them out if you have the chance.
